名前を元に戻してからは、コンスタントにアルバムをドロップしてきたPrince。前作と違い今回は唄入りのアルバム。以前のような尖がったTrackは影を潜め、丁寧で良質なTrackが全体を占めるようになってきている。アーティストとしての方向性が年とともに変化してきたということだろう。ホーン、シンセ、ギターなど生楽器中心でライブ感のある曲が多く、ロック、ファンク、ソウルとバランスがとれて聴き応えのあるアルバム。
